Cast and Director Chosen for A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters”
The board of The Moon Theatre is pleased to announce the selection of the cast and director for the up coming production of A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters. The cast is filled by two of The Moon Theatre Companies most experienced actors. Playing the part of Melissa Gardner is Pam Strahan. Rick Paddon plays the part of Andrew Makepeace Ladd III.
Collaborating with The Moon Theatre Company is director Don Kraus. With many years of acting and directing experience, Don brings strong direction to the production.
Gurney, known as a very prolific playwright, earned a nomination for the 1990 Pulitzer Prize in Drama for Love Letters. The play is written in an epistolary form which consists of a series of letters or diary entries read by the actors. The compelling advantage of this form of story telling is that it adds a greater level of detail and realism to the story without having to resort to narration.
Love Letters will have a run of 4 shows over two weekends at the Four Square Church, 500 4th Street, in Berthoud. Showtime is 7:30 PM Friday and Saturday evenings, March 5th & 6th and again on the 12th and 13th. Tickets are $8.00 for general admission and $5.00 for seniors and students and may be purchased at the door. Reservations may be made by calling 970-301-8513 and leaving a message.

Cow Dung Dust, Press Release
1/31/10.
The Moon Theatre Company – a new Northern Colorado entertainment venture – will launch its inaugural season with a premier staged reading of the new play “Cow Dung Dust” by local playwright Rick Padden, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Berthoud Foursquare Church, 500 4th Street in Berthoud. A second performance will be Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
The Moon Theatre Company was formed by a group of actors, writers and directors who are passionate about live entertainment, and who wish to create performance opportunities for like-minded individuals in the area and entertainment opportunities for the general public. The company will offer dramatic readings, full stage productions and experimental theatre in a variety of locations – tapping Northern Colorado’s vast reserve of talent.
“Cow Dung Dust,” which brings together an unlikely (but oddly connected) group of hitchhikers in the back of a cattle truck for the ride of their lives along Route 66, will be followed by a production of A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters” March 5, 6, 12 & 13, also at the Berthoud Foursquare church. Both productions are in sync with the economy, welcoming patrons for only $5 per performance.

Cow Dung Dust
The Moon Theatre Company is putting on a performance of “Cow Dung Dust”. This play was written by local playwright Rick Padden, the writer who gave us the Play “Beets” which we performed at the Rialto last spring. “Cow Dung Dust” is about a group of hitchhikers in the back of a cattle trailer enroute to California along Route 66 in 1970.
Oh yes, “Cow Dung Dust” plays Feb 5 & 6 at the Four Square Church in downtown Berthoud. Tickets are $5. We will be performing the play in the readers theatre format, much like a radio mystery theatre, but without the fuss of radio waves flying everywhere. This will be the first public performance of this play.
